I will let others weigh in, but my gut tells me this is a fantasy coin/tourist junk. I have never seen a coin like this before, and the man in a ca. 1980s business suit just doesn't seem like something the PRC would put on a coin. Lots of Republic era coins have the wreath on the reverse, but this is the first I have seen with seal script.

Again, coresctions welcome, but this just doesn't sit right with me.

It does bear a slight resemblance to the 1914 Year 3 fatman in facial features, only problem is in the real one it is his side view he is facing left and the characters don't all match up.
on the reverse the wreath is a dead match up but the characters don't match and the ones in the photos look more Korean than Chinese. But my knowledge extent is to the 3 of these dollars I own and my world coin book!

Looks fake to me (or replica)
A lot of these chinese replica's are indeed 40mm
The real one is 39mm, 1924AD
Bust of president Tuan Chi-jui

Thanks a lot for your responses so far
@petrus, the coin is not magnetic and it 'sounds like' silver to me when I drop it on the table.

Good call, Petrus.

Here's what a genuine coin should look like:

Silver-Chinese-Dollar?

The portrait is all wrong. Phony to be sure.

The coin is definitely a fake.

The calligraphy is poorly done and the portrait lacks proper details.

An authentic coin should have a diameter of 38.5 mm and a weight of about 27 grams (26.83 grams).
