Sadly I have nothing new to show off today. I went but it was raining on and off, which scared away plenty of sellers. Bummer. Hopefully next week should be better.
Ouch. Well, there is always next week.

Today was strange. Perfect weather for an outdoor market and tons of people selling and buying, but next to no coins to be found. I did find a single piece after having seen everything there's to offer.

My-Sunday-Market-Finds
˝ Afghani, Afghanistan (1350)

It was mounted when I got it, but thankfully only on one side. It leaves some terrible marks though. I was quite surprised to find this piece - the guy that sells these typically has old, but still next-to-worthless Pakistani and Iranian coins polished to death and mounted, all coppernickel. As soon as I saw this piece I knew it was Afghanistani and silver - a combination I don't have. However, Numista does not agree with the specifications of this coin, the diameter is too small (24mm officially vs. 21mm this piece), the weight is too light (understandably) and the edge is plain. I'm certain about the piece's legitimacy, but I don't consider it valuable, especially with the damage. I got it for 20 kr.

Nice find Andreas. I wonder if the coin has worn down or if it was modified to mount it.

Today brought a fine little mix.

My-Sunday-Market-Finds
My-Sunday-Market-Finds
˝ Anna, Pakistan 1948
1 Paisa, Pakistan 1966
25 Paisa, 1980
Unknown coin, possibly Indian states?

5 Groshen, Austria 1982
10 Centavos, Brazil 2006
50 Centimos, Peru 1987
2 Kroner, Denmark 1994

100 Yen, Japan Showa 46
10 Schilling, Austria 1975 & 1979
1 Centesimo, Chile 1962

All this for 35 kr.

Once more, a silver coin found, mounted but forgotten about, along with a few more. The 25 Paisa was not only mounted but polished to death.

Today brought some more silver extravaganza!

My-Sunday-Market-Finds
My-Sunday-Market-Finds
50 Centimes, France 1923
1 Sol, Peru 1976
10 Lira, Turkey 1982 & 1984

100 Lira, Turkey 1986
5 Kronor, Sweden 1971
50 Kroner, Norway 1978

25 kr each for the two large silver pieces, 10 for the rest. It is wonderful when you get these large silver coins for under melt The Norwegian piece is particularily heavy at 27 grams .925 silver. A true steal at that price. The first Turkish 10 Lira coin has some amazing relief to it aswell.

Once more, a week without anything to present. Admittingly it's been hard finding anything lately , there's just not as many coins around right now. Hopefully it should pick up soon.

Today it bounced back with plenty to show off, however it's mostly just assorted currency.

100 Yen, Japan (55)

100 Lire, Italy 1956, 1966 & 1976
200 Lire, Italy 1988
100 Escudos, Portugal 1992
10 Dirhams, Morocco 1995
˝ Dinar, Jordan 2000

All of this for 30 kr, which is already a steal. The Malaysian 50 Ringgit note is worth about 100 kr. I must say I think the new design series for these notes are rubbish compared to the one pictured here. These feel modern and fresh. A note I'm happy to get.

The locally-issued 'coin' is just another of many out there - I suppose a way to praise the local economy? Anyway, the inscription on the obverse says that the 'coin' was last redeemable on 31 December 1981, so I think I'm a bit late. It's a pretty 'coin', though.
