Nothing at all today - it was snowing lightly, a white tint was visilbe on the sellers' tables, but there weren't many sellers. If the weather keeps up the way it has lately there won't be much to show off here.

Too bad about the weather. It is finally winter here (Chicago area). We had mild weather for a long time. Now it is snow and ice. Winter is a good time to organize the coins and read the coin books -- and discuss coins online.

Believe me, winter (a.k.a. snow) typically hang around untill April here, it's no pleasure.
Today gave excellent weather, sun was shining and not a clound in sight. Only problem was the temperature: -9°C made most sellers run away when I got to the market, so no new finds today.

Yes, that's too cold to be outside for very long. It feels like spring is a long time from now. That is not good for shopping for coins!

The weather turned out for the better oday, but only in terms of temperature and downfall. All snow in city became brown slush Despite the wet nuisance everywhere on the ground, some sellers dare to set up, some of which had brought some new stuff, so the finds are as follows: 10 Kopeyek, Russia 1998 2x 2 Rublya, Russia 1997 2x 5 Rubley, Russia 1997 and 2014 100 Rubley, Russia 1992 (from the chaos after the dissolution of the "great republic". Perfect condition) 2 Drachmes, Greece 1988 (Fun fact: this is one of the last(?) pure copper coin issued for circulation, the other one being the 1 Drachma) 25 Öre, Sweden 1950 (Today's silver) And the banknote: 10 Kronor, Sweden 1968 (Commemorating the world's oldest central bank, the Riksbank, an its 400th anniversary) All was mine for 22 SEK. Finally a good day.

I hate to say this each other week, but no new finds today. It was quite a fine but cold day today, with 1*C in the air and sunny weather. Lots of people and sellers but no one except the usual people brought coins with them. I've either picked out the goodies from the usual people or shuddered at the crazily high prices the others have. To be fair, I was at a coin show yesterday and spent over 900 SEK on coins and supplies, so I don't mind today

I guess each other week gives different results. The weather played a key role today, cloudy and warm weather was the prefect condition for a day at the market. One of the usual coin sellers brought along some new coins, picked up 10 for 20 SEK: (2x) 1 penny, Ireland 1948 & 1949 3 pence, Ireland 1942 6 Pence, Ireland 1962 1 Shilling, Ireland 1954 (2x) 1 Florin, Ireland 1955 & 1962 20 Pence, UK 1996 (2x) 1 Markka 1964, today's silvers. Another seller had two notes: 1000 Rubley series 2000, Belarus 1 Ruble series 1947, Soviet Union See you next week

I love the Irish coins with the animals! I have some of those but different years, probably. Those are nice notes -- nice pieces of history!

Actually forgot to post this yesterday, but believe me I did do everything yesterday! I thought yesterday was going to be another bad day with few sellers since, well, the ground was covered with snow. I was thinking about not going but I went anyway. Turns out the activity was pretty high. I look for two things while at the market: - I'm a type world coin collector. Any coin I don't have in a series is always appreciated. Sometimes I want duplicates because of nice designs or good prices, which brings me onto my second thing I look for: - Good deals/Bargains Buying silver coins for under melt, paying below exchange rate value or buying collectible coins for cheap. A good deal is alwyas something good. I have a list of melt values for many common silver coin in my head while looking, so I know when it's a good deal. Same list goes for many currencies' exchange rate. Collectible coins ( IHC and many older coins) show up from time to time but I don't have those values in my head. That being said, here are yesterday's finds: (2x) 10 Penniä, Finland 1896 & 1916 1/4 Skilling, Sweden 1833 20 Centavos, Portugal 1925 1 Peseta, Spain 1900 All for 50 SEK. A nice batch of older coins.
