I have accumulated several proof sets, from 1963/64 in the cellophane type blister packs to the 2007 Silver Proof sets in the hard plastic "slabs" from the mint. I generally don't care for the older cellophane type packages, as they detract visually from the coins (scratch easy, etc)

What do you do with your proof sets for storage? Break them out into 2x2's? Put them in those 5 coin plastic holders? Something else?

Thanks.

I never open the proof sets because they are no longer guaranteed proofs if you do. Definitely don't open any past 64 since the mint packaged them wonderfully. If you insisted on doing it, I would use the 5-coin plastic cases for simplicity and the fact that they could easily be kept track of. I think 2x2s would distract more than the cellophane.

What

Proof is a style of minting, it has nothing to do with condition or storage. You could run over a proof set with a semi rig a few times and the coins would still be proof coins. They might be banged up and worthless, but nothing can take away the fact that they are proofs
