Finally have a decent set up for coin photography. And these two are the first ones off the assembly line. I am open for suggestions on how to improve the quality. Using two Jansjos for lighting, Nikon D90, Minolta Bellows thanks to austrokiwi, and a Rodagon 80/4 lense.

Looks like the coin is not flat vs the sensor. It is a bit blurry at the top on each pic. You can either stop-down the lens a bit (what was aperture setting?) and/or make sure the coin is flat using the mirror method. Judging from the sharpness at the bottom of the reverse (ONE DOLLAR area) your setup has good potential.

I like hearing the good potential statement. I noticed the blur as well...my eye is better than I thought. Don't recall the aperture setting am at work now, will need to look at that when I get home. It may have been something as simple as my lense not being completely parallel....I could see me making that mistake

I like the look of the 2 images. They appear to capture the coin as it looks in hand. This is what I would be striving for (except for the blurry tops).

Good job taking those pictures! Again aside from the blurry tops especially on the reverse. But, I can't criticize these since my photo taking ability isn't close to this good! I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4. It's almost always too bright!
