Hi,

Is this coin a possible double die. It looks like that through my microscope, but the pictures and my technique (in another post asking for help) are not as clear. Any help would be appreciated?
THank you,
Peele Dunn

Very nice luster on this coin, it's still pretty nice even though it's not the DDO

There is some Machine Doubling on the bottom of the date, but this is not master hub doubling.

Peele, the master hub was doubled in 1972. All the dies were created by it, therefore all 1972 pennies are doubled dies. Very common though.

I tried to tweak the photo to look for DDO - Looks clean I think.

That is not quite correct, there were two master dies, one of which was doubled. This is not one of them....I'm sure coop has a good photo of the doubled master die on here somewhere, it has a telltale hump on the top of the B in LIBERTY that is easy to see without closeups....once you are familiar with it.

Most 1972 cents will not show the Master Die Doubling.

I guess those would be of the EDS variety.
