How To Clean This Copper Medal Safely

I have a copper God and Freedom medal that I have identified as an HK916. The problem is it was kept in an old coin flip and it is "gummy" from some substance. Is there anyway to safely clean it? Also, I know from the catalogue that only 1,000 of them were made before they were switched to Silver (have one of those too). Does that make it more valuable, even though it is made of copper?

First, try an acetone bath. If the green area remains, then try VerdiCare. If that doesn't work, then stop and do not attempt to improve it yourself.
