Ok everyone, here is something I have been meaning to do for 3 years and have finaly got around to it.

In 2012 I was a grade 12 student working in the local library to earn my high school degree. One of my jobs was to dispose of the canceled books (dispose of often meant take home and read).

I rescued a 1919 second edition of "Modern European Civilization" by Roscoe Lewis Ashley. It had the following bookplate inside the front cover.

As I read to it I noticed a little ticket used as a book mark at the begining of chapter 7. It is a blue rectangle. It says Bus Ticket across the top and along the left hand corner it says "Nurses, Aides and Patients". A long the right hand side it says CAPT. HEPBURN.

I know that isn't a lot to go on but is there an American data base I can search to figure out who this man was?

Pardon the awful lap top camera picture but hopefully this makes my post clearer.

I don't think there is any way to determine who this individual was without having a first name, location or more to go on.

Here's a free database https://familysearch.org/search/col...n_id=1968530

Thank you Meadowview, I actually typed in "Mormon War Records" into Google but couldn't find the website you listed.

If I click on "John Moxon Hepburn" (the first listing) it won't tell me his rank, just that he was drafted.

I may never find out whom this man was with certainty and even if I do there will be no great monetary reward, I just want to tell a story. I will keep digging and report back here.
