I got 4 rolls of dollar coins at the bank today and found a Grover Cleveland, a Chester Arthur, and a 2007-s & 2013-s Sacagawea.

How do you all suppose this happened?

AC

P.S. I never realized that John Lithgow modeled for the portrait of James Buchanan.

Sounds like someone maybe rolled coins from their coin jar. I know a server at Long Horn Steak House that saves all their coins and once in a while rolls them up to go to the bank and she likes to get dollar coins in tips and has said so in the past. I often leave dollar coins for tips in restaurants or hotel rooms for the maids.

But these 4 were not made for circulation, correct? Do you think maybe a coin collector absently put them in with their circulated stock? I have never found a proof or not-intended-for-circulation coin in any rolls of any denomination before!

That's actually a good idea, to leave dollar coins as tips. I used 6 of them at the grocery store today and the cashier had to look at them for a good minute haha
Rest in Peace

I buy a full P and D roll of each President and each native american each year, pick out the best 8 or 10 for myself and a couple of other collectors, then spend the rest.

Ah ok jgfindring, well this explains it! That actually sounds like a good practice, as many of the dollar coins in circulation are in sub-par condition.
