I received this from my grandmother in 1949 among other coins she had stashed in a drawer in a large oak buffet. I was 8 at the time.
Anyway, I finally looked at this coin close with a new camera microscope I have. Clearly, an enterprising scammer tried to make an 1859 Indian Head cent into an 1850 IHC. I wonder if he/she fooled anyone before my grandmother got the coin. Hope it wasn't her. Are such examples attractive to anyone. Not a very good effort though.

Most interesting - the first I have ever seen. Clearly altered from an 1859.

Thanks for the input!

No Indian Head cents were made in 1850.

Exactly! 1859 of course was the first year of production.

WELL worth keeping as an altered date.
It would be impossible to deceive any specialist collector of U.S. coins with this one!
