So I went to the bank to get a box of pennies. They had no pennies boxed but gave me a box worth of these old rolls! After I opened all of them I found nothing newer than 1980 and nothing older than 1959 (minus one 1917 wheat that is rough). Think these rolls have already been picked? Or just someone saving change?

My guess is that it's someone's copper-dump.

Some of the wrappers might be worth hanging on to.

Some people do collect wrappers. The one from Detroit and the first one from Illinois I like.

Since some of the wrappers predate Zip Codes they might have some collector value themselves. They are likely printed before the mid 1960's but of curse could have sat empty since then.

Since the newest coins date 1980 they are all copper anyway so are probably keepers for most roll hunters. I suspect someone came across them when Grandma died and returned them for cash. Since the rolls are older than many of the coins I wonder if Grandpa was a collector and had some plan in place for them before he passed.

Someone may have inherited them, or they were keeping them for the cooper and got tried of waiting for the profit. Either way or another, a nice find if you keep copper.
