Do I Have The Makings Of A '56-D Error Cent?

MichioKaku Valued Member United States 374 Posts	Posted 09/18/2015 10:13 pm I was CRHing the other day and found that the D mintmark was extremely out of place on this Wheat cent... The one on the left is the one I found, the one on the right is a regular one. What do you think? When I looked up the "shadow-d" error, their pictures depicted it as to be so slight it would be barely noticeable, however on those cents, the mintmark seemed to be small and out of place, any thoughts/comments? scstrawn Pillar of the Community United States 536 Posts	Posted 09/18/2015 10:54 pm Considering that the mintmarks were punched by hand during this time, it's not surprising that different dies have slightly differing mintmark locations. It's likely just from another die pair, not an error. Report this Post to the Staff

Not to get your hopes up unduly and your pic does not show it but check my link for rpm 008 and compare it to your coin.
