Fellow Ohioans,

I am looking for someone locally that I can meet with weekly or so to help me identify and value the coins I pick up from work. I have access to thousands in change on a weekly basis, and I have recently taken collecting up as a hobby. I know I'm missing some good finds strictly because I do not know what to look for, be it rare dates, mint errors or something else. So, if you are from the Cleveland/Parma area and would not mind sitting down and helping me get my feet wet, I would greatly appreciate the help!

Why not get a few copies of books on coins. For example try to find a hobby or coin store and get a copy of the Red Book by Whitman Publishing. And that could only be a start. There are many, many books on coins available. Go to the Whitman Publishing web site and look what they produce.

The only way to get your feet wet is self education. Buy some coin books and READ THEM. Some collectors and dealers will help to a certain degree as well.

This page might help you recognize errors: http://www.lincolncentsonline.com/error.html
There are several other pages on that same website that show rare cents, varieties, doubled dies, rpms and more. Check it out!
