I have seen an image of an 1876 H large cent, and I am aware H indicates it was minted in Birmingham. What confuses me is my coin book shows no H mintmark other than 1907. Is my book in error or is this a rare find?

All 1876 large cents had the H mint mark, that may be why it was excluded from your book as it is the only variety, so they didn't mention it. The 1876H is one of the more common pre-1900 large cents and is only worth a buck or two. Unless it's in really great condition of course then it may be worth more.

Your book is in error .. buy another one. 1876, 81, 82, 90, 98, 00, & '07 all had the Heaton H mintmark.
