I kind of disagree that error coins are less important than variety coins. In my minds eye, they are both important and equally collectible, though some would disagree with this thought.

As a person who works both sides of the fence (errors/varieties), I enjoy both and the thrill of finding a "new" error or variety coin is an exciting and excellent feeling.

finding something - that contributes to the hobby -IS a bit of a thrill. I havent found anything "fun" in so long lately - that this gives me something of a kick start.

like anything else, its encouraging to make progress.
