Sometimes when the back of a coin looks darker it's from being in a folder for a long time,just wanted to mention that. Not saying that's what's going on here though. John1

You could well be right. It's just so unusual to see electric blue on a mid-age LWC. But I guess you could also argue that if you were going to fiddle with something, why a common date?

A small hack; I have coins that resemble this coin closely that came from circulation, saved because the colors are so interesting. Is there another reason this coin and others like it could have this particular aspect? I don't see any reason either to 'fake' this coin, they only realized around $3. Of course, do that 1000+ times...but.
