The Perth Mint Australian Gold Kangaroo coins were first introduced in 1987. The series has grown in popularity over the years with a new reverse design every year. Even with many years of changing designs, the topic has always remained the same: an iconic Kangaroo in the Great Australian outback. On the 2016 silver version of this coin, the Kangaroo is featured in a pouncing position on the reverse of this coin while the effigy of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is displayed on the obverse. An exciting feature of this coin is the micro-laser engraved "A" that appears under the first "A" in "Australia." This is only visible under magnification in order to help prevent counterfeits.
