I couldn't find information about this in the Spink book, Collector's coin GB, Krause nor online:

Dateless-Elizabeth-Penny-II

I emailed one of the people who works at Spink last week about it but so far no reply.

Other side is just a normal predecimal young head of Elizabeth II.

I can see the whisper of a date. It is not dateless. I would bet that the date was filled with grease or some other substance when it was struck and through the years people have rubbed the area to try to read it.

Look in your Spink book to see if there are some design features that changed enough to get a date range.

Below the trough of the third wave from the left it looks like there my be a partial 8. If the date position is correct so that is the position of the last number than we have it down to a couple years.

But who is to say/

100% post mint. Lots of striations in the exergue and off colour in comparison to the rest of the coin.

A nice little coin though!

I have to agree; it looks like the date has been tooled off.
