sure, ther best way to tell is to look at the I ine DEI, ok if teh I is flared at the ends it dosnt have a shoulder fold. If the I is somewhat straight then it has a shoulder fold. the shoulder fold on the actual queen looks somewhat like a crease on her shirt write on her shoulder going horizontally just like your shirt.. their are 4 variety's
near leaf no SF, MS-63 4,000$
far leaf no SF, MS-63 8$
near leaf SF, MS-63 10$
far leaf SF MS-63 4500$

Dockwolliper, Thanks for posting the two photos! I was going to ask about the SF, as opposed to NSF, but you showed me exactly what to look for.
SNAZ, thanks for posting the varieties!
To all, Many thankes!

SNAZ, can you help here? I have located 500 nickels, all apparently from the '50's. What would a good offer be/ and are there any, "many?" varieties to look for? In another batch of 500 nickels, (all '50's), I have already gotten them purchased, and will be receiving them in a few days. Same questions, as abpve. Any help will be appreciated. Dick

i dunno I dont buy too many bulk purchases like that.. but I think i'd offer 35 bucks.. thats 10 over face value.. seeing as how they arnt worth anything over face unless they are EF-40 or so.. so I think id say 35 bucks but.. are they searched if their searched probably 30 bucks.. the only other variety is in 51 theres a high relief and low relief with the high relief being the very expensive one... what did u pay for your bundle?

Dick, I hope they haven't been aggressively searched for the mules. With that many...good luck!

Regarding whether a 5c is SF or NSF, the type style around the bust is a giveaway too. I think there are some good writeups somewhere on the forum.

Dick, the melt value alone is almost 2.5x face for the pure nickel coins. And as Kurt says, it's easier to tell the SF from the NSF by almost anything except the Queen's portrait!
