Very interesting coins collecting area - quadratic, hexagonal, hole coins. Hungary mint new 1000 Forints 2007 quadratic coin. Please look scans.

There are many FAO coins that have odd shapes and sizes. One of my favourites is this coin from Tonga which exists in both cupro-nickel and silver proof.

The Edgar Degas coins (France 2007) have a similar shape:

The coin was also issued in a (non-colored) gold version.

And when it comes to pieces with odd shapes, well, there is the Somali "guitar" series:

Then there is the Isle of Man's triangular coin:

In my opinion, they are "sort-of-coins" rather than coins (especially the pieces "from" Somalia), but why not collect them ...

India has a number of odd shapes in their coins. The two paise coins are scalloped the three paise coins are hexagonal the five paise coins are square and the ten paise coins are a larger scalloped coin. The old pice coins had large holes in the center and were often used as washers.
