I would like to see a picture of the colour big coins first, really can't fathom the RCM being so stupid to just colour the original designs. They must think we collectors are so gullable to buy anything they crank out. I guess that German private mint was colouring some bullion maple leafs and some collectors were confused as a low mintage RCM product and going gaga over them.

Not sure if another round of big coins is killing the theme...per se.
5 oz colour coins seen before...often...so now they go with this circulation coin theme...which means they are running out of good themes...
Not sure if colouring will surpass the gold enhancements version...
Better look good or will look too gimmicky IMO...we shall see soon.

The Mint will produce anything that Bromberg commissions mostly because it will increase their bottom line.

@R4mn33k:
Could you send the picture via email, please?
To see how silly the idea?

How about a description? Do they come with a case?

Curious what the color of the 50 cents coin is.

Actually, only Coat of Arms initially coloured image (well, not on the circulation 50c, but as Canada's attribute).

So, this one suppose to be not bad at all and historically correct (still does not justify re-issue Big Coins).

RAM (Australia) in the 2008 minted this 1oz coin:

ebay item ID = 252118761225

I suspect, that it printed, without relief. If RCM will do the 5oz, with relief, fully coloured, it will look nice.

I hesitate but somewhat agree with you Silveroid...must have some relief otherwise a simple painted pic will not be appealing...
Can somebody refresh my memory - was 5 oz coronation of queen Liz with relief?
These big coins may perhaps be similar in style...maybe?

There was no showing of the case, just a large box, same as the big coin, but showing the coloured coin. The face of the coin, the loon, water and island at the back are coloured, rest is all silver, with a pattern in the silver background.

There are not few disadvantages of XforX coins, but need to admit, that $200for$200 are innovative and un-usual from the point of view of design and entire picture with perspective, that coin introduces.

"The Coastal water" (2-nd coin), imo wasn't great, due to feeling of "hurricane in the water", but first (Boreal Forest), and the current coming, just advertised -
"Rugged Mountains" - have really good look.

Definitively, much more effort needed to design and struck full picture using multy-layered silver finish, rather to glue the stone, glass or 3D sticker to the coin.

I just saw the 5oz Loon as I am a VIP member at CdnCoin.

Blah. I will be passing on the 5oz Coloured theme. I have a feeling all the coins together will have a disjointed and ugly look in my opinion.

I bought the 5oz Gold Plated set which is GORGEOUS. This is one collector who will not be buying the new theme.

EDIT There's a picture of all 6 coins in coloured form. UGLY. :/

Just seen the pictures of the coloured big coins, as expected kind of silly take on a great series most likely won't sellout and drag down the original classic designs. How do you expect collectors to keep spending 3200.00 on a poorly rehash set, they would have more success on producing a half kilo version of the big coins and call it the really really big coins. As I said earlier this as dumb as I thought.

I am also a VIP member at CDNCOIN but I don't see them yet. But from the descriptions I won't be getting them.
