Royal Canadian Mint - The Royal Canadian Mint is delighted to be the first to receive a dozen nominations for its collector, circulation and bullion coins deemed outstanding in nine of the ten categories of Krause Publications' annual Coin of the Year awards. The Canada could win almost in every nomination, but:

Quote:

Best Contemporary Coin
2014 $30 Fine Silver Coin - Canadian Monuments: National Aboriginal Veterans Monument

Best Silver Coin
2014 $ $20 Fine Silver Coin - Bobcat

Most Innovative Coin
2014 Silver Maple Leaf Bullion Coin (with visible and Bullion DNA security features)
2014 $20 Fine Silver Coin - River Rapids (with Transition Effect colour)

Best Contemporary Coin:
2014 2oz Tim Barnard could have much more chances to win.

Best Silver Coin
2014 $ $20 Fine Silver Coin - Bobcat
Who paid money, that this coin will be mentioned "the best silver of 2014"?

Most Innovative Coin
2014 $20 Fine Silver Coin - River Rapids (with Transition Effect colour) - is there any effect at all on this painted coin?

2014 $2 Circulation Coin - Wait for Me Daddy

Someone want to explain to me how a flawed/damaged coin "waffling on Rim" can get nominated for coin of the year? Are these people blind?

The RCM makes some nice coins but these toonies are just plain awful.

People from RCM presented digital image of the coin to the jury
But in 2014 from circulation we had Lucky Loony and "Wait for me, Daddy". The WFMD, actually nice and thoughtful theme and coin....but the quality is low.

So basically if that is the case you don't even need to produce said coin, just show them a picture of it lol. Nice.

The $200 gold Thunderbird is an incredible coin... by the far my favourite overall.

I also like the UN Peacekeeping $20 silver coin...
