This blank planchet is rimmed, brass-toned, 5.10 grams, and just under 1 inch in diameter (did not have a mm ruler). What type of coin is it intended for?

A nickel is only 3/4 of an inch in diameter though

I don't think it is a nickel. Just slightly larger as you can see in this photo.

Planchets are slightly smaller than the resultant coin so if it is larger, then it is impossible for it to be a nickel planchet.
