I've been reading through a lot of posts and on the internet trying to absorb as much information as I can. I'm learn better through doing versus reading, so I was hoping I could get some insight from some of you as to what things are going on with this penny.

first, it is a Close AM, where the a and m in america are touching. look for 1998,99, and 2000 Wide AM cents. next, the "doubling" looks like MD to me. that is Machine Doubling. you can tell because the doubled portion is flat and shelf like. sorry, but it isn't worth more than a cent

with this penny.

It's a cent.

The stuff near the nose it split plating, see the zinc under the copper? Not worth anything, will eventually destroy the cent.

The reverse has Machine Doubling. The die scraped against the devices during the ejection process. Beyond common. Worth 1 cent.

Thank for that assessment, I figured it was Machine Doubling I just figured you guys would know better than me. On the last photo, the word TRUST, why is part of the letters up by the rim. It's obviously just in the coating of the coin and not imprinted but what causes that? And the second to last photo, is that "blob" in the bottom corner of the building landscape, is that considered Cud?
