arnoldoe, or any CCFer, please explain to me why the third picture down ($1116!) isn't a fake.

It looks like a poor dog dew fake to me.

Nope, I don't know diddly about these.

wow they all look nice! For me its very subjective though. the $6500 surely looks great but wouldnt see it as high as 6500.
there are two that I found thats as nice or better, with around same price or even lower.
or maybe its just my eyes.

I am with parklane64, I do not care the technical grade I actually laughed out loud when I seen that nose on Tiberius. I would imagine the dies/hammers would wear down and need to be fixed/replaced but that thing looks awful.

If I saw that coin raw I would say the same thing. The nose is comical and there looks like casting bubbles on the reverse edge. I hope more than one expert looked at it before it was graded and slabbed.

I don't agree those are casting bubbles. If you do an ACSEARCH hunt on Julius Caesar, for whatever reason, many of them are struck significantly off center. What you will find is that the part of the planchet that is not struck often has some odd bubbles outside the die strike area. Really. Go do the search.

What always fascinated me is that what does this say about the planchet manufacture? Did the Romans use some sort "master magic tiny ladle" for each planchet? Did they use some sort of "drop shot" with molten silver. I haven't dug far enough into sources to understand planchet manufacture to even know what knowledge is out there.

My comment was that they looked like casting bubbles, I didn't say they actually were or that the coin was fake. However if I saw the coin not slabbed in a raw state it would give me pause based on what I see.
