If this is going to start a family food fight it is not worth it. I have been in one of those and the whole family can become estranged over deals like this. Better you Grandpa goes to a dealer. Get the coins appraised and pay that price if all are on board with it. Family is more important than a few coins. My close family blew up over an estate and I have not spoken to my sister or her daughter for 15 years. I made the mistake of trying to do the right thing. All the emotions and buried stuff comes out that is irrational. Is your uncle your grandpa's son?

This sounds so typical. When it comes to money or things of value, most families will end up in a food fight, which your uncle has shown. Seems your grandfather should decide what to do with his coins, unless he is not mentally capable. If he has all of his faculties, I would guess he'd want them to go to the only other numismatist in the family, that being you. A lesson for everyone is to make sure that those you want to get things when you pass, get them while you are alive so that there is no feeding frenzy when you are gone.
