Is there a standard (or uniform) magnification level, such as 5X or 10X, used for general grading practice?

(I am sure that higher levels of magnification may be applied in resolving legal or authenticity issues - right?)

I believe graders use 5x mag

i believe I've heard they use 7x, but I could be wrong. nothing super powerful is needed, but if you just want to practice, you can do it with your bare eye

As I understand it, all of the grading companies use a standard 10x loupe to grade coins.
Try googling youtube some of the TPG's to find out more about their grading practices standards and policies.

They generally claim a 5-7x going up to 20x for varieties or authentication if needed.
