Hello to all.

I was Googling my own name when I came across this forum. Sadly an anonymous writer chose to show his superior knowledge by attempting to trash my ebay name, accusing me of selling a fake American Silver Eagle.
Another decided to show his skills by appraising my PCGS MS63 generic year Morgans at $15 each.

I have seen an own a fake silver eagle because part of my hobby is collecting fake and counterfeit coins. They are a joke as most have dates like 1909 with a very flat strike and not much reeding. I am a partner in with a coin shop that is registered with the US Mint. We purchased 65 silver eagle monster boxes just last year. Most are sold, the rest are self investments NFS. I am the ebay sales rep for our store. Last year we made just under $100k in ebay sales with 3000 PFB and 5 NFB. So far the Feds have not kicked down the door and raided our fake silver eagle department.

$15 PCGS MS63 or better Morgans. Why am I bothering to address that joker? Only because here in SW Fl it is now 45 outside and I dont have earmuffs!
I think most know that even high volume submitters pay $12 per Morgan. That is the bare-bones snail pace, no variety attribution. To get 20 MS63 or better, I must carefully examine 150 BU coins or risk paying for returns in body-bags. When asking for return of minimum grade, if the grader is in a bad mood, you can still get coins returned because he saw MS62. Years ago, that happened to me more often that now.
A Morgan cull has about $12 in silver. I openly challenge Mr. $15 PCGS MS 63 or better to put his money where his hunt and peck mouth is. How about selling me said coins for $30 each and doubling your money?

Gee, I dont mean to start on this board by ripping and ranting. Here are a couple of tasty carrots to make up for enduring the stick.

My coin mentor of 25 plus years is Art Arbutine. I highly recommend that you read some of his article found on the net.

Parting thoughts.
Watch your position on high price coins. I have been doing this for 30+ years and the thinly capitalized coin market can crumble with amazing quickness.
History shows that while bullion is a good inflation fighter, rare coins are often panic sold to raise cash to pay bills. While it will soon be possible to find some bargains, appreciation might take longer than current trends and some might possibly experience further significant depreciation.
I invite all thoughts comments on this and any issue.
G Carr

Your right Gene, I apologize. I must have been thinking you were selling that SGS garbage or something when I posted that, I have edited the post. Just an FYI though, what you paid PCGS to slab them means nothing to me as a collector. I can find MS62 (not MS63 as you mention above) for considerably less than $44.95. I don't need a slab to tell me the grade.

I would however like an answer to this question.... Why do you think you are above ebay law? All certified coins sold on ebay MUST have a clear picture of the front and back of the holder. You have probably close to 75 for sale with no pics. Please don't tell me "they're all the same" like you say in your listings because we all know that may or, more than likely, may not be true.

Also, I don't see anything close to somebody accusing you of selling a counterfeit eagle here. I see someone that emailed you for a picture, that you got cranky with. Nothing more.

Well, I apologize again. Some did indeed call it a counterfeit.

However let's examine this....

New-To-Forum

The one on the left is a known good one, the one on the right is the photo from the exact listing that was judged here.

Care to explain?

Yes, I will explain. When I posted this pic from a thumbnail file, I did not realize it was a pic of one of those 1 pound bullion rounds that look like an eagle. I sell those both in Troy pound and 16 avd ounce size. It is totally my fault but an honest mistake. I am old and half blind from staring at coins and computer, but I aint a crook!

I do not think I am above ebay law. Coins listed in ebay store prior to that rule are exempt.
I have had plenty of laughs with my powerseller adviser about all the coin sellers telling on each other for petty reasons. If you call, one of those 19yo kids will answer and you can persuade them to end almost any listing.
There are plenty of snakes on ebay. Seems like some are just tryng to eliminate the competition any way they can.
So why dont you help us all figure out hoe to rid ebay of seller jknable797....552 NEGs and counting.

Ok, but I'm still confused. Now, it's an honest mistake and no big deal, just shrug it off. But then, when you were confronted in an email about it, it was a big deal. You quickly ended the listing and got real nasty with a potential buyer for questioning a suspect coin. It's the same event now as it was then, what makes the reaction different? If you had fessed up to the honest mistake then, instead of getting defensive, no one would be questioning anything and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Also it's not just the thumbnail, it's the 800px image on Auctiva.

Only for the balance of the current 30 day listing at the time the rule went into effect, it doesn't keep rolling over on a good til' canceled listing.

For what it's worth, I don't think you're dishonest anymore, I just think you sometimes (due to other things going on maybe?) have zero people skills and it gets you in a little bit of hot water sometimes.

Its nice to see that a discussion can be carried out without one or other party resorting to non family orientated language.
Both parties here have stated their opinions and thoughts and produced a post that I find both informative and enlightening.
Thank you both for keeping civil so I could read the whole post and not have to wonder what it was the MODs had to remove....
