I have a hundred or so U.S. coins, but the vast majority of my collection comprises World coins, back to ancient times. That's why I have graded it according to the British system. A lot of these silver Kaiserreich coins, particularly 3 marks, have this characteristic stripe. I've always assumed it's from tape or paper at the end of the bank rolls.
