Okay, so my 1926 S LWC is a pretty nice one, VF/XF ish... However, I constantly notice the red/brown stuff "growing" on it. It's been under acetone for two (2) days now, and it looks about the same (other than the fact the color is a little lighter in general). I really dont want to upgrade this coin, because I figure that sense the 26 S is a semi key date it would take like $30 to get one of equal grade... What can I do to help the coin? These pics are old, by the way, so it doesn't show the after effects of the acetone.
Thanks!

Just leave it be - I don't think your conservation efforts will make any difference.

Heres what she looks like after the acetone bath... Also, first picture of a coin with my iPhone 6S!

Might be worth sending to ANACS for conservation or to NCS? Would it be better to sell this one and use the money to buy a better one?

Thanks.
Rest in Peace

weird environmental damage. I don't think anything would help it. put it on the bay and buy yourself a better one.

It is a semi key and you can pick up one with less damage in the near future.

Corrosion with pits, no saving. I think you soaked it in acetone too long, the patina looks odd now.

That coin is worth $5 tops and I wouldn't pay half that for it. '26-S is a better date but not a semi-key.
