Michigan's-First-Accredited-Precious-Metals-Dealer:-Liberty-Coin-ServiceIndustry Council for Tangible Assets - Patrick A. Heller, Owner Emeritus and Communications Officer of Liberty Coin Service in Lansing, has become the first Accredited Precious Metals Dealer (APMD) in the state of Michigan. The accreditation is available only to members of the prestigious Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG) who also meet strict criteria for handling customer precious metals transactions with professionalism and integrity.

Said Liberty Coin Service Owner and General Manager Tom Coulson, "Liberty Coin Service has been an industry leader for decades. This accreditation is a natural extension of our pro-customer protection measures."

Accredited dealers must be PNG members, comply with the APMD Code of Ethics, have a verified minimum net worth, average over 25 years of experience, agree to binding arbitration for any disputes involving precious metals, and are strictly prohibited from selling precious metals that are misrepresented. Consequently, only the nation's larger coin dealers are eligible to become an Accredited Precious Metals Dealer.

The Professional Numismatists Guild, founded in 1955, is a non-profit organization composed of just over three hundred of the world's top rare coin dealers, paper money and precious metals dealers, and precious metals experts.

Frequently honored Liberty Coin Service, established in 1971, is Michigan's largest rare coin and precious metals dealership. It is one of only five coin dealerships worldwide whose staff includes four or more PNG members. Former owner Patrick A. Heller was honored by the American Numismatic Association as the 2012 Harry Forman National Coin Dealer of the Year. Heller also calls himself the "Unofficial Artist" of the 2004 Michigan Statehood Quarter for being the primary author of the written instructions supplied to Engraver Donna Weaver to create the master dies for the US Mint coin issue. Liberty Coin Service has been located in the Frandor Shopping Center in Lansing since 1975.

I visited Liberty Coin a while back. I was brow-beat, and charged a "sorting fee" when I bought junk silver. Felt a bit like I was taken advantage of, and probably will never return.
