I believe the anomaly inside the C of America is part of the E of WE on the obverse. The die must have been in bad shape, there are cracks all around. I would appreciate opinions on this one.

Woah, if they used that die much longer it would be a nice big CUD

Yup, I think they probably retired it shortly after this one was struck. I'm thinking this one might be a Retained Cud, as I see displacement on the A.

Cool CoinMasters :D

I haven't seen too many die cracks on nickels. I'm not seeing much, if any, displacement on your coin (much easier to tell in person though). Also, it's hard to tell from your photos, is the crack rim-to-rim?

Unless there is other evidence of a clash, that mark in the "C" could very well just be a small die chip. It looks significantly raised and also is attached to that crack which leads me to believe this.

Any other cracks on the coin? You said there are cracks all around :D would love to see more

Hey Blue, the crack starts at the rim, goes through to the steps, branches down to the A (where I see displacement), goes over to the C, heads over to the clash(which I think may have caused the crack), I believe it then follows the inside of the C, (maybe), then exits between the C and A, and goes to the rim. My pics are not the best, but there are numerous rim to letter cracks, the crack at the steps branches south and west, there are also cracks uniting the C to the I to the R.
The displacement I can see much better under 20x mag. The one part I am unsure of is the crack following the inside of the C. If not, it crosses the C to the I and turns to the rim, if not it crosses the I to the R and turns to the rim. Maybe I am cracked, this coin is crazy.

Thanks, TJ, I photograph my coins in batches. I'll put this one back in for re-shoot, and post the new pics here in about a week.
