Won these at a local auction the other night. I thought I did pretty good on them. Got four large cents in a lot, 1808 1811 1817 and an 1819 for $70.00 plus 10 percent buyers premium. The 17 & 19 were ok maybe worth 10-15 apiece so I'm into the other two for about 50 bucks. There were a good many coin lots but mostly common stuff that sold for way more than it was worth like 3 rolls of wheat cents for $25 6 common wore out Barber dimes went for $20 so I was surprised when they let me get away with these. I know the 1811 has some "issues" but I'm pretty sure if I wanted to flip it on ebay I could at least double the $25 I have into it

I love the 1808. The 1811 is a bit rougher but any Classic Heads are welcome in my home.

Absolutely a great price and very well bought.

Even cleaned and porous the 1811 is worth more than what you paid for the entire lot.

Nice LC's.
Classic heads in general are sought after and rarer to find than other LC categories.

In my opinion the 1811 is a Sheldon - 287 (the die scratch from the fifth star is diagnostic). I would grade it F Details corroded and improperly cleaned.

The 1808 is S - 279. I would grade it AG 3, nice original toning, nice for the grade.

Very good price for the lot. I would have paid that any day.

Thanks guys, I also won another 4 coin lot of large cents for $40 that were pretty decent so it was a good night. Here's another shot of the 1811 that shows it more the color it is.The other one looks way off but for some reason this phone camera only likes to get realistic color when your holding the coin. As soon as you lay it on a background it's a whole different story.

Wow, what a wild difference in color on the 1811 in the two pictures.

I'm enjoying the honest wear and feel of the 1808. I'd give it a G4, but it's eye appeal makes it a winner. Great find! Enjoy the lot!
