After comparing a number of these from 1836, I noticed that the one pictured below is a little different. Rather than beong rounded like all the other coins I saw, the date is more angular, with the tail being at a 45 degree angle like in a 5. Also the inner loop barely connects, making it almost an open 6. In addition, the left side of the six appears to be thicker than the loop.
Do you think this is a 6/5?

Sounds reasonable to me. Especially if you've got a bunch of "normal" 1836ers to compare it with.
