G6, needs a full visible date to make over VG for me. Not a bad circulated example :)

From our CCF Info Bar (to the left) under US Coin Grading:

Quote:
G4 Good- Date and lettering readable. Top of date worn. Liberty's right leg and toes worn off. Left leg and drapery lines show much wear.

VG8 Very Good- Distinct date. Toes show faintly. Drapery lines visible above her left leg.

F12 Fine- High curve of right leg flat from thigh to ankle. Left leg shows only slight wear. Drapery lines over right thigh can be seen only at sides of leg.

VF20 Very Fine- Garment line across right leg will be worn but show at sides.

EF40 Extremely Fine- Flattened only at high spots. Her toes are sharp. Drapery lines across right leg are evident.

AU50 About Uncirculated- Slight trace of wear on head, knee cap, shield's center, and the highest point on the eagle's body.

MS60 Uncirculated- No trace of wear but can have many contact marks. Surface may be spotted, or luster faded.

MS63 Select Uncirculated- No trace of wear. Light blemishes. Attractive mint luster.

G-04. Far more than the top of the date is missing.

Bra detail is mostly there along with reverse detail is at least VG10. Net this out should be about G-06 or VG8

VG-8, possibly VG-10. IMO if you can see the separation from the shield and the chest and clearly see the drapery separations on the left leg, you've reached the VG range. Plus, you can faintly see most of the toes, some bra detail, a small part of the shield itself, and an overal clear design without any real faint sponts (the main distinction between a G and a VG. The ANACS grading descriptions for pre-recessed coins even notes wear on the date into the Fine category, so this is actually a nice solid VG coin.
