My New Style Athenian Tetradrachm, arrived from Vcoins yesterday.

176/175 BCE 34-35 mm, 16.28 g.

It looks like it was made into a brooch at some point in its life.

I saw that one, and carefully considered it. It is a type I have been wishing to add to my collection for sometime but alas I have champagne taste and beer money.

The claw marks from where it was set aren't the end of the world, probably better than having a drilled coin or solder marks on the reverse. Brooch does seem the likely candidate but it's possible it could have been mounted in any manner of items.

Congratulations, it is an iconic coin and certainly must be satisfying to put a tick in that particular box.
