I think that is part of the territory. It takes time to come up to speed on recognizing a feature you would want to keep. I used to tell my young children, when we were out fishing, and they would get pinched by a crab and start crying: that makes you a *REAL* fisherman now! They would stop crying and feel proud of themselves for having gone through the experience. Perhaps there is a parallel here to what we experience with numismatics!
