I did a box of nicks last night. It was pretty thin on the under 1960 coins. I'm guessing that the majority of the coins in this box were from a clean out of pre-60s. In addition to 2 40's and 4 50's, I found a 1927 buffalo and a really neat 85D. I guess it would be called a misaligned die. The obverse of the coin has a bit of flat space to the left and the date is half way cut off and running over the side of the coin. I just bought a microscope and if I ever get it up and working, I'll be sure to show this coin.

Found the key 1939-D in a bank roll last night. Boy, have I been lucky with nickels!

I have to ask but what do you end up doing with all of your pre 1960 Jefferson nickels? Do you sell them in bulk to a dealer or just hold on to them? |

1 box found a few DDR 1960 and some DDO other years. lots of steps on these       |

I have them sorted by decade and then s mints are separate and so are low mintage coins. They don't take up much room so I'm just saving them for now. |

i only save pre56. I dont bother with the others as there are not many valuable ones to cherry pick past that year. I know the 6- and 61 can have a few DDO's but id rather just save time and space for the older ones pre56 |

Bish, That is an awesome circ find on the 1939. 4 or 5 steps...sure. Doesn't always tell the whole story, but that coin is beautiful in every way...very few nicks or dings.
I don't know much about grading...is that coin worth sending in. Could it grade MS?
