The term 'box' is new to me. How much is in a 'box' and is there anything distinct about it (e.g. unsearched)?

A box refers to $100 dollars worth of nickels. Normally a box will contain 50 - $2 rolls of nickels from the Fed and wrapped by an independent company such as String and Sons, Brinks, etc... If you ask a bank teller at your bank to buy a box they will normally say "yes."

Thanks jd! I figured it was something of the sort. I suspect that the odds of finding something of value is increased this way given these wrapping firm access multiple channels.

1 box today Found this 1934D today which appears to have about 15 degrees die rotation.It is an upgrade for me. It looks much better in hand than the scan. Also found 2 1945S war nickles and 2 1950 Jeffersons.   |

Funny, I find a good amount nice and clean like that and the rest are worn down and no date. Not many in between!

How have I missed out on this one? I have done 80 dollars in rolls 3 silver niks 44p&d and 43s and the others are as follows have only track pre 1960 nicks roll hunting 47 s,55 d,51 s,46 p,41 p,47 s,47 p,38 s,59 d. Thats it for now

box of nickels - 1928 CAD, 43-P, 52-S, 58, 2x59 & a 1976 error (see below). I think it's a severe weak strike, since there doesn't seem to be any "grind" marks.   |

After posting yesterday I went to the bank and picked up 30 more dollars in nicks.. And this was a good search 15 pre 1960's including several 59 d's fresh out of a mint set and the rest were 41-52 but got one hole filler and one 1952 s with a couple steps to replace a coin from a previous search. No silver but going to go today and trade them all for new rolls and the search will go on!! I did actually find what appeared to be a proof 1970 nick kinda made me laugh. It was a good search. Coulda been alot better if I would have know that the 5 rolls were either vending machine coins or laundry mat coins they were terribly chewed up..
