@bishftl

The 1943 is a laminated planchet (more common on silver nickels for some reason)

after long deliberation I have decided to neither sell or open the ender roll. Instead I am going to set it aside and hopefully add to my new "ender roll stash" in the future. I figured it may be a good investment for the future or someday when I am on a bad streak of skunks I can dig into some nice rolls that are guaranteed not to be skunks.

I don't know how you have the willpower to not open those rolls.

Week of 5/4
• 2000 nickels searched
• 1928 Buffalo (G4)
• 1942 P, 1943 P Silver
• 24 pre-1960 (1940 S, 1954 S, 1955)
• 8 post-1959 (including a potential 1962 DDO)

I'll need to spend some time with the '62. It could be that I'm dealing with a late die state and all I'm seeing are fat/flat devices.

they're just hole filler upgrades most of the time.
some times my camera doesn't show the crazy blue colors of the coins.

Ah. it is probably color matching to the green background then. try another color background and it might bring out the hues more.

Yes - I totally appreciate the upgrade coins - I might pull 2-3 coins from each decade (60s, 70s, 80s)to have a closer look at relative to what's in my album. And for the 82s and 83s, anything with 3 steps showing (and without any major abrasions/nicks) gets culled out.

Bish has been on a decent hot streak for higher grade post-1959 Jeffersons. Nickels of late have been growing on me so I'm constantly checking a find against the coin in the album. My interim goal is to get AU/AU+ nickels from 1960 forward, aiming for 3 steps and better strikes.

Keep posting the pictures - I enjoy seeing the good fortune members are having. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything truly noteworthy worth snapping a picture of - except the 1962 that is a VLDS strike - interesting trails.

They're STILL out there folks.

Found this one in a Loomis box today. I search a few boxes per week for the silver. This was a pleasant surprise. It's in the grading section too.

Nice Scotty! I found one like that in a roll long ago. I still get excited looking at it decades later. Mine's a tad better, but considering I found it 35+ years ago, I had a slight advantage. But as I'll continue to say: check the shiny ones out too!! Great find!!
