This came with a collection of WW1 and WW2 German coins and items. I've talked to a few coin dealers and the consensus was this is a medal, but that was it. No one had seen one or anything similar to it. The inscriptions read "Gustav Adolf Konig von Schweden" and on the reverse "Zur Erinnerung an die Confirmation Magistrat Lutzen". It measures about 33-34 mm diameter. Searching the text hasn't produced anything. It has the German silver hallmarks making it post 1886, but no other marks to indicate the maker. The only thing close I've seen is http://www.ebay.ie/itm/GUSTAV-II-AD...261268970978 Based on that link, I think it might be 1887. Yes it has been cleaned and has a large rim dent. Any ideas on age or what it actually is?

Certainly a commemorative medal - the reverse inscription means In memory of the confirmation of magistrate Lutzen.

This is a medal memorializing King Gustav II Adolf King od Sweeden Who died leading the Protestans at the Battle of Lutzen in 1632. This was a major battle of the Thirty Year War. See this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battl...Ctzen_(1632).

The reverse is a depiction of the monument for the Battle and Gustav in Lutzen see http://www.wmwag.com/en/city-leipzig.html

I have found nothing on the artist or the year issued.
