Im seeing the word 'ghost' used lately, when some people are describing unique anamolies or errors on lincoln/wheat cents.

Can someone please give me a basic definition, if this is a commonly used term shared by coin'people.'

Because the pictures supplied with/when this term is used, are no clearer in helping to spell out-what they are talking about?!

Thank you

I would not necessarily call Progressive Indirect Design Transfer(PIDT) an error, it is just a form of severe die wear.

I've got some so pronounced, that they could be confused w/clashes. Particularly the lg. UK pennies, where George haunts the rev.

"ghosting" is were the dies are so worn that you can see the outline of lincoln on the reverse. this is also called "Progressive Indirect Design Transfer". Not an error, just VLDS (very late die state).
