Can anyone be kind enough to help me with Chinese replacement or star notes
like what series or prefix or serial numbers are counted in replacement notes in 3rd , 4th and 5th set of RMB or YUAN

and where I can find any such information . recently I have seen someone selling on ebay PMG graded replacement banknotes . I hear Z have been in few prefix which are replacement banknotes and some dnt have have Z but still replacement banknotes . how do we know if this series is replacement or not .

Any kind help or links would be much much appreciated .
and yes MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE .

Dr. Ali Mehilba's book, Mehilba World Replacement, is a great resource. I have included a page on Chinese banknotes from this book as a scan. Chinese banknotes are hard to research. And as the first edition of the only comprehensive book on world replacement notes, the information, though researched, is definitely in need of more detail. That is why he included it in the "Countries researched" section and not in the main section. With that, here is what is in the book:

Keep in mind too , that "The Banknote Book" by Owen Linzmeyer, is a the best general catalog, but also currently working on the immense job of Chinese banknotes. Perhaps emailing either or both of the authors may result in some more recent information.

To revive the topic, a year later..I have a Chinese 1 Yuán note dated 1999 with the prefix ZT, is that a replacement or not? The 1999 issue wasn't represented in the pic above.

Also, are there any websites/lists/catalogues that lists only replacement prefixes/suffixes?

Cheers!

Hello All,

I am sorting my Chinese Banknotes and would need help with respect to Prefixes for identifying Replacement Banknotes.

I searched online but came up with nothing.

If someone can share a link or a list of sorts, it'd be of great help.

Thanks in advance,

Shabz

I wish I could help further clarify the matter but would have to turn to

Quote:
Dr. Ali Mehilba's book, Mehilba World Replacement...
as @DaveL suggests.

I did pick up these 2 1990 notes:
P-888b* 50 Yuan replacement with the JX prefix

and P-889b* 100 Yuan replacement with the ZJ prefix
