AU-58, close to MS but I would not pay MS money for this one.

Mottled color may indicate A dip and retone. Looks like most of the original luster was removed

AU-58 but fields are that of a 64 coin.

How much did you pay for it. It's a lower AU coin. It has circulated for a bit of time. It is nowhere near an AU58 and is definitely not close to mint state.

Grey Sheet bid is $120 for an AU50 and $200 for an AU58. These prices are for dealer to dealer buy/sell so don't expect to buy for these prices. So looks like you paid retail price for a AU53/55 1886-S approx...Or in other words, you received what you paid for. Average buy/par for the coin and it is a fairly nice example of an AU 86-S.
