The name/information is on the coin... Side #1: THE CRYSTAL(half-circle) 5¢(center) Side #2: J. LUSCH JR.(half-circle), otherwise blank. No date.

This is a token rather than coin. You'll get better results posting in that section. I'm curious as to what the experts there will say.

IMHO, this token is pre-WWI, circa 1890-1910 or so. Aluminum 5 cent tokens of this general style were often used to purchase a cigar or a beer, during that era. Tokens like this, lacking a town and/or address, being prime clues toward attribution, are commonly referred to as mavericks. It often takes years of searching, looking for clues to learn more about them. Obviously, patience is needed. Yet, more and more information is being added to the internet, and that's helping us token detectives.
Doing a cursory search, I found that one John Lusch, Jr. was a New Orleans elevator operator in 1913. He's simply a possibility. He had no middle initial. As "John" is the most common "J" name, I started with that. The era fits, and he may have other jobs prior. It would help to see if there was a business called "The Crystal" in New Orleans by searching early city directories. A great token website to check out is "Richard's Token Database" which can be Googled.
This thread should be moved to the token and exonumia section.

(Seattlite86) Mystery solved! The Crystal House (Hotel), Formerly Magee Hotel, Jacob Lusch, Jr., Proprietor, located 1023-25-27 Green Ave. Apparently Mr. Lusch Jr. also owned a cigar company as well as a soda/bottle manufacturing. The era was probably around 1900-1920 that this token was made.
