The easiest way in the world for you to get an honest opinion about this coin is to post pictures here, as has been suggested many times.
Without pictures, all we can say is that there is less chance of you having the 'real deal' than in winning the lottery.

I you were speaking purely statistics, then this coin has a higher chance of being legit than the OP winning the lottery tonight. However, I get the point that you're making.

The last genuine 1804 sold for over 2.3 million and one sold in 1999 for 4 million. If anyone who gives you an estimate on the coin also wants to buy it, beware. This is unethical if you are just asking for an opinion of the coins value. If you were to send it to a grading service you should send it Registered Mail and insure it for its potential value. The USPS sends stuff registered mail worth millions. Don't let them confuse you with certified, simple insurance or tracking. You need to send it REGISTERED MAIL. I worked for the post office. I would be so scared of losing the coin I might just put it in a safe deposit box after taking pics of it to show to various coin dealers. I know that it will have to be handled by a human to determine if the coin is real or not. 99.9% that it is not real because there are only 15 of these coins in existence as others have said.

If you haven't looked already, you might go to Wikipedia and see what they say....they also show examples of lettering on the edges of the 3 classes of 1804 dollars....might help you out...

Quote: I'd send it to ANACS, wayyyyy cheaper. Anyways, T-BOP I would almost say it's better than wining the lottery, as who knows when another 1804 dollar will show up at auction?! An 1804 dollar in an ANACS holder If you had a multi million dollar coin why on earth would care about saving a few bucks and handicap the coin in a subpar holder?

If you had a multi million dollar coin why on earth would care about saving a few bucks and handicap the coin in a subpar holder? Just to certify genuine, ANACS would be the place to start, and I'd only be out a few bucks to find out it's most likely a fake. But then I agree, it would be off to PCGS.

Quote: Just to certify genuine, ANACS would be the place to start Yeah, thats what I meant. Quote:An 1804 dollar in an ANACS holder Not as bad as the 1804 dollar slabbed by ICG... I believe it is the Parlamee-Reed Specimen that was graded by ICG

A new member with an 1804 dollar given to his grandmother years ago? Add to that the fact that this AWOL poster is the one person in the world without a smartphone to snap a photo, and we have a winner.
