It got squished in something. It has something similar on the obverse.

Too which I would fully agree if I could see some zinc, but there is none exposed. And the fact that TED of UNITED has not even been touched, and the obliterated letters of STATES have no displacement of metal.

being that it has the same imprint on both sides, id also say it had to get squished In something... not really sure what though

I have to say I really look forward to the posts from the experts. Because you all have so much knowledge on coins and the processes. I know that it will be a really good and interesting find.

As you said the devices where some of the other damage (or whatever it is) is not harmed - could be something more than just PMD?
