I haven't found too many of these in my searches. There is just a very faint hint of "In God We Trust" to be seen at each end of the motto. I thought I would share it, I think it's kind of interesting.

Extremely cool find Never seen one before ... very cool it has a very similar look to Struck Through Grease but I assume the rest of the details outside the area would be stronger but on a tapered coin they fade off on taper

How exactly does this occur sudz? Never seen one before either-assume it's the same concept as a thin planchet, just came from bad stock?

It looks like it might have been struck on a tapered planchet, it should be a little light. The blank was punched from a stock sheet that had a variation in thickness, resulting in a planchet that was thinner on one end.

Here are some pics of the side of the coin showing the tapering. Notice the narrowing of the side in the second pic when compared with the first. In the third pic you can see the side getting wider again as you go around the coin.

Your pics were playing tricks on my eyes at first-I was trying to figure out how your seeing a tapered planchet by only looking at the rim? But it was actually the edge I was seeing lol-anyway thanks for the pics
