Not sure if this is the right place to post, but wanted to share a story (and a cautionary tale).

I was contacted via my account by someone who I presume saw a post I made in the Reno group (I offered to buy silver at 11x face if anyone was going to sell and wanted better than pawn shop/dealing junk rate)

First off he says he has a coin he needs to sell 'so he can get back home to California to help a sick relative and his car needs repair' So he is willing to sell me the 1916d for $250 dollars.

I already suspect scam, but I ask for a picture, which is so blurry you can't hardly see anything, and of course only one side.

I thanked him for checking with me, but with so many fakes, I wasn't prepared to buy it.

Almost immediately, he messages back $200. I really want to end this now, so I say, meet me at (local coin shop, that I so a fair amount of business with) and if we can get I authenticated, I would love to buy it at a fair price.

I can sense he is getting annoyed and he reminds me his car is busted and besides coin shops only deal with ANCS coins.

So I probably missed my chance at the rare key date merc.. silly stupid me :(

Tuesday in Reno

The only thing you missed out on was getting ripped off or even worse. Red flags are flying.
