First of all thank you for any and all information and/or opinions. Pictures may not be the best I can upload more if needed and I won't be rude if this turns out to be fake or for any other reason and I hope you can do do the same. So I found this dime in my front yard, at first I thought I was a penny and thougt I might as well see if I found something since roll hunting wasn't getting me anywhere. Well turns out it wasn't a penny at all, It was a dime. Now I have not weighed it so I cannot tell you this information. It appears that both the obverse and reverse clad are missing completely. My question is if anyone here thinks it is authentic, how much it is worth and if anyone is interested in purchasing it.
That is a typical color for cupronickel alloy coins exposed to soil, it is environmental damage. A coin missing both clad layers would be significantly light and thin and the strike details would be weak due to the planchet thinness.
I agree with both above toxic on the strike and weight. Thought I found one last week myself till I weighed it and that put an end to it plus it was the same thickness as other dimes-would be about 20% underwieght
Okay so apparently my phone was auto enhancing the images so for the new ones I took off the flash and turned off the auto enhance feature. Does it still look environmental?
